What is Chlordiazepoxide and Trifluoperazine used for?

This is a combination of two medicines: Chlordiazepoxide and trifluoperazine. Chlordiazepoxide works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Trifluoperazine is a typical antipsychotic. It works by blocking the action of dopamine, a chemical messenger in the brain that affects thoughts and mood. Used in the treatment of schizophrenia. For the management of anxiety disorders or for the short-term relief of symptoms of anxiety, withdrawal symptoms of acute alcoholism, and preoperative apprehension, psychosis and anxiety.
